Birds of Jordan (BoJ HD) joins the 8Apps suite of reference apps sharing the same elegant simplicity design philosophy, but adds a new dimension: brilliant photography!

BoJ HD, as delivered, contains 306 fascinating photos of the most common 60 wildlife birds in Jordan. The birds are categorised in pre-installed folders, but you can organise the Birds in your own user-defined Folders, tags, colours and star ratings. Each Bird has attributes Name, Folder, Info, Colour Tags, Stars Rating, Tag/Icon, Location, Map and Website.

You can designate 3 user-defined field labels and values (label it anything you like and enter its value). You can also add your own text to History, Tips and Notes fields. You have total flexibility in how to make the app birds, and their photography, look and feel as you like.

The Birds Carousel view (left hand icon on the View/Edit screen) allows Zoom on the photos (pinch outwards on top of the photo) and resets back once pinch completed. The Birds Collection view (middle icon on the View/Edit screen) has a FullView icon (top right hand corner of bird photo) that launches a new screen, where you can pinch outwards to fill the whole screen (it will not reset by itself!) and you can pan (move the photo around).

The Bird Details view allows text Copy of any attribute (i.e. Info, Locaton, History, etc.) with a long-press that launches a pop-up Copy option so you can Paste it in any other app.

Add any Bird to Spotlight for quick search. Share your beloved Birds on your favourite social media platform (Facebook, Twitter, etc).

o Start with Folders.
Add your own categories/folders, or use the pre-installed folders. You can attach a photo/image to the folder for a colourful presentation on the Folders table or details views.

o Set Folders Table Options.
In Settings: Views Options, you can elect to have the Folders table row launch its Birds table view or directly to the Edit view (default, where you can also see the Birds within a horizontal collection view). This allows total flexibility as you use the app more and decide which approach is best for you. You can switch back/forth anytime and the setting is immediate.

o Choose Your Tags, Colours and Stars.
For each Bird you can choose an icon Tag, Stars rating (0 to 5) and/or Colour/Color sets (Any combination of 3 colors, including no colour/color). In Settings: Tags, you can add your own tags with images. These options are all reflected in Queries, giving you (almost) unlimited choice of tags/stars/colours to classify your favourite Birds.

o Define Your User Fields.
For each Bird you can define your own 3 user fields (User1, User2 and User3). You can enter any text for the label (e.g. instead of ‘User1’, opt for ‘Wildlife’/‘Domestic’, etc) and enter the field value (e.g. ‘Mountains’, /‘Lakes’). In Queries, you can them see the User1 lists sorted by your user-defined labels.

o View the Birds.
The Birds Table shows Birds by Date Created descending (like the default iOS Notes app) and allows search by Bird Name, Folder or Tag. Touch/tap the Sort Menu button (left-hand top corner) and sort by Folder, Name or Tag. You can then select a Bird record to see the Bird Details view. The Bird Details view has buttons that allow viewing of Bird photos in a collection view style.

o Set Birds Table View Options.
In Settings: Views Options, you can elect to have the Birds table row launch its Details (heaps of data!) or directly to the Edit view (default, which also show the details but in a different, more ‘pleasant’ layout, and allows FullView).

o Query the Birds.
On the Queries view, a menu of queries is presented, covering all aspects of Birds of Jordan. The Colours query is particulary interesting, as it allows any combination of 3 colors, including any colour (‘X’) or no colour (‘ ‘). The Queries are a powerful, comprehensive feature of Birds of Jordan.

Overall, an enjoyable HD photographic journey exploring the birds of Jordan.
